How live-in care works with us

Live-in care is the alternative to a care home that most people do not know exists. A carer moves into the spare room and the life of the house carries on: the same chair, the same garden, the cat on the bed.

Our live-in carers are employed by us, trained by us and matched by us. You meet them before they start, and the same one or two carers rotate so the faces stay familiar. A second carer covers their daily break, so there is never a gap.

For many families it costs about the same as a good care home in Chester, and less than a week of round-the-clock visits. It needs a spare bedroom for the carer and a reasonable internet or phone signal, and very little else.

What it includes

  • A carer living in, usually for one or two weeks at a time
  • Personal care, meals, medication and housework
  • Company all day, and someone there at night
  • A second carer covering breaks and days off
  • Couples cared for together, pets kept at home
  • A senior carer visiting monthly to review the plan

Often right for

  • Someone who would otherwise be moving into a care home
  • Couples who want to stay together in their own house
  • People with advanced dementia or after a major stroke
